 o Muslim parents in a poverty-stricken neighborhood (ghetto/projects)\, so
  he feels connected to the plight of the lower class struggle (minimum wag
 e employment\, lack of healthcare\, exposure to violence and drugs). He jo
 ined the US Navy after High School as a Hospital Corpsman (combat medic) a
 nd served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He retired after 24 years of service in
  2011\, and after that\, dedicated his time to social justice. As an Afric
 an American\, he feels free to speak out against unfair U.S. policies with
 out fear of deportation. He feels an obligation to speak up for our immigr
 ant brothers and sisters\, who fear reprisals. He is a proud Muslim Africa
 n-American Military Veteran.\n\nHe the founder of Mosques Against Traffick
 ing\, Pink Crescent\, Clergy for the Coastline\, and is part of the Racial
  Justice Coalition\, an anti-police brutality organization\, that lobbies 
 for legislation to hold law enforcement officers accountable for illegal a
