DESCRIPTION:Mardi Gras\, also known as Shrove Tuesday\, is the final day of
  Carnival (also known as Shrovetide or Fastelavn)\; it thus falls on the d
 ay before the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is French for
  "Fat Tuesday"\, reflecting the practice of the last night of consuming ri
 ch\, fatty foods in preparation for the Christian fasting season of Lent\,
  during which the consumption of such foods is avoided.\n\nShrove Tuesday 
 originated during the Middle Ages. As in contemporary times\, food items l
 ike meats\, fats\, eggs\, milk\, and fish were regarded as restricted duri
 ng Lent. To keep such food from being wasted\, many families would have bi
 g feasts on Shrive Tuesday in order to consume those items that would spoi
 l during the next forty days.\n\nIn countries such as the United Kingdom\,
  Mardi Gras is more usually known as Pancake Day or (traditionally) Shrove
  Tuesday\, derived from the word shrive\, meaning "to administer the sacra
 ment of confession to\; to absolve".\n\nMardi Gras starts at 5:00 on March
  4\, 2025\, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of San Dieguito\, Sol
