Climate Conversations — Sun Day September 13

Sun☀ Day

Our fellow UUs on the First Church Climate Justice Team invite us to Sun Day, a Picnic for our Solar Future on Saturday, September 13, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm in Balboa Park. Sun Day is a national day of recognition of solar energy’s importance for our planet’s future. This fun event, jointly sponsored by the Interfaith Coalition for Earth Justice, San Diego 350, Third Act So. Cal., and Green Faith, will offer vegan refreshments, music, games for the whole family, demonstrations, and speakers passionate about opportunities for positive change that address global warming.

Speakers include:

🌞Dave Rosenfeld, Executive Director of the statewide organization Solar Rights Alliance, will talk about recent challenges to rooftop solar in California, and what we can do about them;

🌞Bill Powers and Isaiah Glasoe of Public Power San Diego will talk about the movement to gain independence from profit driven behemoth SDG&E and establish a publicly owned electric company which would lower rates and move us towards 100% renewable energy.

Bring your brown bag brunch and beverage. Don’t forget a chair, hat and sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle. Get more info and RSVP here.
